HEALING THE WILD MOTHER
A four week journey through the mother wound, the maternal line & the wild mother within
Beginning - 15 October
The pain of the mother wound can run deep through our lineage.
As women, anguish, grief and rage can run wild and rebellious through us, and yet, who softens and nurtures our spirit when the wound itself began with the mother?
Healing the Wild Mother is for the daughter who feels ready to begin exploring the cycles she has carried. The daughter who desperately clung to her mother, longing for her love, her softness, her approval, while her ferocious words could sting like nettle, leaving their mark long after a soft caress.
Perhaps you loved your mother deeply. Perhaps you still do. Perhaps your relationship holds tenderness alongside pain. Perhaps you have spent years trying to understand her, forgive her, distance yourself from her, or become everything she was unable to be. And maybe, there is an anger and rage ready to erupt. Everything has been simmering under the surface for far to long, the body quakes, and words explode, the aftershocks land as a feeling, “that didn’t sound like me.”
There can be an unwritten loyalty between mothers and daughters that makes naming the wound feel like betrayal & yet we can hold more than one truth within ourselves.
We can begin to understand the woman our mother became while still grieving what the daughter needed. We can look towards the women who came before her without losing sight of ourselves. We can hold love alongside anger, compassion alongside boundaries, and understanding alongside the truth of our own experience.
This four-week journey is an exploration of that space.
Through history, ancestral reflection, storytelling, embodiment, animal archetype, folklore, mythology, ritual and journeying, we will explore the Mother far beyond the relationship with the woman who raised us.
We will look towards the women who came before us and the lands, cultures and circumstances that shaped their lives. We will explore Mother through the daughter, through the maternal line, through animal and instinct, and through the goddesses, folk stories and old myths that have carried her image across generations.
From the mother of our blood to the Mother of story, earth, spirit and archetype, we begin a journey of remembering, exploring and discovering what Mother might come to mean to us now.
Healing the Wild Mother is a place to begin.
HOW THE MOTHER WOUND SHOWS UP
Sometimes the mother wound is loud. It lives in rage, anger, grief or the ache of never feeling chosen. It lives in the ways we learnt to survive love, receive love and remain close to the people we needed.
It can live within:
The way you relate to yourself and the people closest to you.
The need to blame, defend, withdraw or protect yourself when you feel hurt.
The way you give love, receive love and question whether love is safe.
The belief that love must be earned through being good, useful, quiet, successful or needed.
The fear of rejection, abandonment or never being chosen.
The difficulty of knowing and expressing what you need.
The guilt that comes when you place yourself first.
The anger you carry towards your mother, yourself or the life you experienced.
The way you become a mother yourself, whether through motherhood, nurturing others or the archetype of the mother, and begin to recognise familiar patterns playing out through you.
The fear that despite everything you have done to break the cycle, parts of her still live within you.
A FOUR-WEEK EXPLORATION OF MOTHER
thursdays at 4pm perth/bali time
oct 15, 22, 29 and nov 5
Across four Thursday circles, we will follow the Mother through four different landscapes: The women who came before us, The instinctual and Animal mother, the Sacred Mother of story and myth, and finally, the Wild Mother within.
Each circle opens a new exploration, followed by space during the week to sit with what has arisen. You may be invited into reflection, written word, research, movement, ritual, story or personal practice.
There is no expectation to unravel a lifetime, or generations of maternal history, within four weeks.
Our journey together is a practice of noticing, remembering, expressing and beginning to relate differently to what we carry.
We begin by tracing the mother wound beyond the mother we know. Following the thread back through the women who came before her. Through story, history and ancestral reflection, we will explore what it has meant to be a woman and a mother across different times and lands, and the circumstances that shaped women’s lives. War, displacement, colonisation, migration, poverty, persecution, loss of land, restricted rights, forced roles, motherhood, survival and silence all form part of a much larger history carried by women across the world.
We will begin to look at our mothers as daughters of their own time, place and lineage, shaped by the women who raised them and the world those women had to survive. Through storytelling and the maternal line, we start to uncover where grief, rage, fear, resilience and ways of loving may have travelled from, creating space to understand the woman behind the mother and the many women whose stories came before our own.

THE WOMEN WHO CAME BEFORE US
WEEK 2: OCTOBER 22
4pm perth/bali
EMBODYING THE ARCHETYPAL & ANIMAL MOTHER
We move from the stories of the women before us into the deeper, instinctual landscape of the mother. Through the archetypal and animal mother, we explore the emotions that can live beneath the mother wound: grief, anguish, rage, abandonment, longing and resentment, alongside the beliefs we formed around love, safety and belonging. We give space to what has been held, silenced or pushed away, learning to sit within these emotions, feel their presence and listen to what they have been trying to express.
This week we follow the animal mother into the wilder places within ourselves, journeying through the spirit of animal and returning to something older, primal and instinctual that still lives within us. Here we explore the ways the animal mother protects, grieves, nurtures, expresses, defends and knows when enough is enough. In the days that follow, you will be invited to explore your own relationship with the animal mother, giving space to the emotions, expressions and instinctual parts of yourself that may have been quiet for a very long time.
We enter the old stories of the Mother, following her through mythology, folklore, legend and the goddesses who have carried her many faces across time and place.
We explore the Mother as creator, protector, nurturer, destroyer, earth, ancestor and divine presence, discovering some of the ways people have made meaning of motherhood, feminine power, loss, love and creation through story.
Together, we journey into the mythic landscape of the Mother, allowing story, symbol and imagination to become ways of meeting her for ourselves.
You will be invited to discover the Mother in a form that speaks to you, through goddess, ancestor, earth, spirit, archetype or something entirely your own. In the week that follows, there will be space to deepen this relationship through story, ritual, reflection and your own ways of connecting with the presence of Mother.
WEEK 3: OCTOBER 29
4pm perth/bali
RETURNING TO THE SACRED MOTHER
WEEK 4: NOVEMBER 5 - 4pm perth/bali
RETURNING TO THE WILD MOTHER WITHIN
After travelling through the women who came before us, meeting the instinctual animal mother and entering the stories of the sacred Mother, we turn towards the Wild Mother within and the relationship we are creating with ourselves.
We explore inner mothering through nurture, boundaries, protection, tenderness, expression and learning to trust what we need. We begin to recognise what we have spent years longing to receive, the ways we can begin offering this to ourselves, and what we are ready to carry forward from the women who came before us.
Together, we close through ritual, reflection and integration, honouring the mothers and daughters within our lineage, the stories that shaped us and the woman who stands here now.
This is an invitation to meet your own Wild Mother, to discover how she nurtures, protects, speaks, creates and loves, and to continue building a relationship with her long after our final circle closes.

Healing the Wild Mother has been created for those who carry a wound within their relationship with mother and feel called to explore it through the lens of the daughter, the maternal lineage, history, archetype, story and the sacred.
This work centres the experiences and stories of women and the maternal line. The course is open to women, including trans women, and gender-diverse people who feel genuinely connected to this exploration. You do not need to be a mother, want to become a mother or identify with motherhood in a traditional sense. Throughout this journey, Mother is also explored as lineage, archetype, relationship, instinct and an inner source of nurture.
This may be for you if:
Explore their relationship with Mother through a deeper ancestral and mythic lens
Understand the women and stories that came before them
Give space to grief, anger, longing and complicated love
Explore the mother wound beyond blame
Reconnect with instinct, body, expression and the animal Mother
Discover Mother through folklore, mythology and archetype
Begin cultivating a relationship with the Wild Mother within
-
No. The mother wound can exist within many different relationships. You may love your mother deeply and still recognise patterns, pain or unmet needs within your relationship. You may be estranged, your mother may have passed, you may have limited contact, or your relationship may have changed throughout your life.
You are welcome to meet this work from wherever your relationship currently stands.
-
Healing the Wild Mother is an educational, spiritual and experiential personal-development journey. It does not provide psychotherapy, psychological treatment, medical treatment or crisis support, and it is not intended to diagnose or treat mental health conditions.
The practices and teachings offered throughout the four weeks are intended as complementary tools for personal reflection, ancestral exploration and spiritual practice. Personal advise will not be provided, and we encourage any participants to please continue working with your existing healthcare or mental health professionals where appropriate.
-
Not at all. Everything within our group container is completely optional.
-
The history of women carries difficult stories. Throughout this course, we may encounter themes including family trauma, grief, abandonment, violence against women, war, displacement, colonisation, persecution, death, murder and sexual violence. Discussions of the mother wound may also bring memories or emotions connected to your own experiences and family history.
You are always encouraged to honour your own capacity. You may step away from a discussion or practice, choose not to share, or return to material when you feel ready.
This course asks that you have enough emotional stability and external support to engage with potentially confronting material. If you are currently experiencing an acute mental health crisis, severe psychological distress, or circumstances where exploring traumatic material may place your wellbeing at risk, this may not be the right time to participate. Please seek support from an appropriately qualified healthcare or mental health professional.
-
You can still participate.
Many of us come from lineages affected by migration, displacement, adoption, estrangement, family secrecy, colonisation or lost records. Sometimes there are names and stories available to us. Sometimes there are only fragments.
Part of this journey is learning how to meet what is known, what can be discovered and what remains unknown.
-
Absolutely. The sessions will be recorded and available for 30 days past the date of the last live call.

My journey with the mother wound began almost 30 years ago, born from my own experiences of abuse, neglect, rage and the longing to be loved by the mother I so desperately needed. What began as a search for my own healing eventually became part of my life's work.
For well over a decade, I have held space for women through healing, teaching and embodiment, and went on to create the Inherited Release Method, a healing modality now practised by practitioners around the world. My studies and practice have moved through feminine embodiment, ancestral and cultural studies, folklore and traditional ways of knowing, body-based and somatic practice, earth-based shamanic work, transpersonal approaches, energy work and trauma-informed healing. I remain a student of this work, continuing to learn, question and deepen the ways I understand healing, ancestry and the body.
I am also a mother of three. My children have become some of my greatest teachers, revealing the places within me that still needed tenderness, honesty and attention. Through being both daughter and mother, I came to understand that healing the mother wound was never one moment of arrival. It has been a relationship I continue to meet, and it is from this lived place that Healing the Wild Mother has grown.
I offer these four weeks as someone who has walked this path for many years, studied it deeply and continues to walk it still, holding space for you to begin exploring your own relationship with the mother, the daughter, the lineage and the Wild Mother within.
